Beautification Committee Agendas and Minutes

The Board shall consist of five (5) commissioners, four (4) of whom shall be appointed to represent one of four (4) commission districts which shall be identical to the city council wards as such wards are defined by ordinance, and one “at-large” commissioner who shall serve as chairperson of the Board. The “at-large” commissioner shall have voice in all matters coming before the Board, but shall vote only in the event of a tie vote of the other four commissioners.

The Board meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 3:30 p.m. in the Planning Room at City Hall, 101 N. Halagueno Street.

The Carlsbad Cemetery Board is a citizen board charged with the control and management of the public cemeteries belonging to the city. The Board oversees the operation and maintenance of the cemeteries and advises the Mayor and City Council on policies concerning the cemeteries.

The Carlsbad Public Library Board of Trustees is comprised of nine (9) trustees appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council. Regular meetings of the Board are held at the Library Annex on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 4:30 p.m.. Among the interview and recommendation of a Library Director presented to the Mayor and City Council for appointment, the main responsibilities of the Board include establishing general policies that govern the mission of the Library, developing long-range plans and adopting rules and regulations for such operations. As the Board diligently manages and cares for the local facilities, they serve as a liaison to the city government to obtain funding, endeavors to stimulate gifts and endowments while maintaining contact with other state officials, community leaders and local organizations relative to any other Library matters.

The Carlsbad Museum Board is made up of eleven (11) members appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council. The Board is charged with promulgating rules and regulations for the operation, management, care and custody of the collection. Other duties include, but are not limited to, aiding in the selection and evaluation of the Director, establishing general policies, long range plans and advising the Director in the budget preparation process. This Board continually creates and submits minutes, along with annual reports, to City Council.

The Board meets the 3rd Wednesday of every other month at 1:30 p.m. in the Museum. .
