He explained the Alano Club supports a program that provides support services for people in the Carlsbad area with addiction issues and for those affected by addiction.  He added this Ordinance is authorizing the lease to the Alano Club for the facility to hold these services in our community and he urged the Council to consider approval.

 0:09:49	06:09:29 PM	6. Council Committee Reports	Councilor Rodriguez reported on the City Census 2020 Committee.  He said the meeting went well and discussed the advertising campaign and will be moving forward.  He added they will be meeting with the Eddy County Census 2020 Committee to combine efforts to ensure all of Eddy County and Carlsbad is covered without replicating programs.  Councilor Chavez explained he and Councilor Shirley were in Washington, DC for the ECA meeting.  He said they also met with DOT and Senator Heinrich and Senator Udall regarding issues on 285 south and WIPP.  He added they also met with Representative Torres Small who is willing to assist with the bill grant and additional funding.   Councilor Walterschied said a plastic bag ban will be coming before Council in the next couple of weeks.
