Melissa Salcido has been appointed as the City of Carlsbad’s new Director of Finance, Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway has announced.
“Melissa has an exceptional record with the City’s finance department,” Mayor Janway said. “We are confident she will continue forward with the high standards set by former Director of Finance Wendy Austin, who is now one of our Deputy Administrators.”
Salcido has been with the City of Carlsbad for 6 ½ years. She most recently served as the Grants and Projects Control Manager. Prior to joining the City, Salcido worked in the billing department at Carlsbad Mental Health for a decade.
“The City of Carlsbad has developed an excellent record of transparency, as well as of timely and accurate financial reporting,” Salcido said. “We remain deeply committed to our service to the public, under the direction of Mayor Janway and Carlsbad City Council.”
Originally from Minnesota, Salcido has a bachelor’s degree in business with minors in marketing and management from New Mexico State University and an MBA from Eastern New Mexico University. Her daughter, Iesha, is 20.
Sandy Gonzalez will now serve as Grants Administrator for the City of Carlsbad, where she manages budget and oversees payroll, accounts payable, purchasing and fixed assets. Sandy has an Associate’s degree in marketing and has 17 consecutive years of experience with the City of Carlsbad Finance department.
