CPD Honors Graduates

The Carlsbad Police Department wishes to distinguish our most recent graduates from the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy Class A-19-43. The NMLEA is a demanding, specialized, 16-week training course that trains men and women to become state certified police officers. From start to finish, each cadet is exposed to over 640 hours of mentally stimulating and physically challenging real-world training.

In total our department had 5 officers graduate on Friday, December 6th, 2019, in Hobbs, New Mexico. Ciera Samaniego, Sergio Rodriguez, Edgar Jaramillo, Javier Garcia and LaTrisha Calderon completed the course and are now back in Carlsbad ready to serve the City of Carlsbad.

Completing the academy is a great accomplishment, yet three of our officers excelled in various events to bring home top honors as well. Our sincere congratulations go to LaTrisha Calderon for the top overall score for Academics. Javier Garcia took the top score in Physical Fitness, and Edgar Jaramillo excelled in two categories, taking the top award for Firearms, and Valedictorian! The Carlsbad Police Department has a long history of bringing back the distinguished honor of Valedictorian and this is the second consecutive award our officers have received. Our city is very fortunate to have such dedicated men and women working as police officers and we look forward to a bright future of positive police interaction with our citizens.
