Carlsbad Municipal Transit System (CMTS) was established in June of 1996. CMTS is responsible for the provision of public transit services within the City of Carlsbad corporate limits and portions of Eddy County immediately adjacent to the city. CMTS operates with three types of services, Demand Response (public dial-a-ride door to door service), Fixed Route Service, and ADA Complementary Paratransit Service.

Presently, CMTS averages 5,000 riders each month. All drivers and staff are trained in CPR, First Aid, Defensive Driving, and Blood Bourne Pathogens. CMTS has a fleet of 21 maxi vans, 18 of which are ADA accessible, including wheelchair lifts and tie-downs.

  • DEMAND RESPONSE
    $2.00 per trip, per person with a one day prior advance reservation.
    HOURS OF SERVICE: 5:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. | Monday - Friday

    **Same-day service when available: $5.00
  • FIXED ROUTE
    $0.50 per trip, per person |  FIXED ROUTE SCHEDULE
    HOURS OF SERVICE: 7:00 a.m. - 5:45 p.m. | Monday - Friday
     
  • COMPLEMENTARY ADA PARATRANSIT SERVICE 
    $1.00 per trip, per person*
    *requires documentation to determine eligibility & one day prior advance reservation
