Santa
Catarina Cemetery
The
Santa Catarina Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Carlsbad
. The cemetery was owned by private parties and governed by a Board
of Directors. The board members and volunteers provided all maintenance
services including the upkeep of the grounds. Volunteers had the
daily task of watering each section using garden hoses. In 2002
the Santa Catarina Board gave deed to the cemetery to the City of
Carlsbad . The city utilizing legislative funds, has installed an
automated irrigation system. As time permits, the irrigation system
will be extended to the Santa Theresa Cemetery .
