Landfill Closure
The
former solid waste municipal landfill, located approximately 4 miles
northeast of Carlsbad , is receiving a final surface grading and
cover. The final cover is being completed to comply with New Mexico
Environment Department (NMED) Solid Waste Management regulations.
The landfill final cover system project consist of clearing the
existing landfill site and borrow source areas of unsuitable materials,
excavation of select areas of existing landfill cover to achieve
design elevations, an final grading of the borrow source for final
stabilizations.
