New Mexico State Fair – Artwork

Members, Richard Van Dyk and Helen Shipler , of the Carlsbad Beautification Committee painted 50 gallon drums for a state-wide art competition. The drums were taken to the NM State Fair and were judged on creativity and representation of the community. Both drums depicted Carlsbad 's beautiful scenery, lakes, caverns, and landscapes. Helen 's drum of Carlsbad was awarded 1rst place. The barrels will remain on display at the state fair grounds.

Landscaping – Industrial Park Entrance         

The Beautification Committee has selected the entrance into the Industrial Park on Commerce Street as a landscaping project. The planned landscaping will include dry creek riverbeds and native plants. As funding becomes available the landscaping will be extended south to Corrales Road and north to Airport entrance. Steve Boulden owner of S&S Landscaping has volunteered his time in designing and overseeing the project.

Cost:         $10,000
