Frequently Asked Questions

What is the 2017 Carlsbad Mayor’s Oil and Gas Summit?

“Tell us what’s going on,” - We’re inviting oil and gas experts to tell us what we can plan to see in the future, in terms of economic growth and development.   We will discuss price fluctuation, the future economic outlook of area industries and upcoming business challenges.  And we’re inviting you to attend this free event.

Who is hosting this event?

Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway is the host of this event, now in its fifth year.

Where and when will the event take place?

The summit will be taking place from 8.m. until around 1 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017, at the Walter Gerrells Performing Arts Center, 4012 National Parks Highway, in south Carlsbad. There will also be a job fair from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the same location.

Is there a cost?  The event is free, but we do ask that you register in advance by calling (575) 887-3798 or emailing mayor.office@cityofcarlsbadnm.com

I’m interested in sponsoring the event, how can I help?

Thank you! This event is only possible thanks to our generous sponsors, and most expenses are related to food. The Carlsbad Foundation is assisting us as a financial agent.  We will include our sponsors in our event flyer and local advertisements and can also offer limited booth spaces at the summit. Please contact kmarksteiner@cityofcarlsbadnm.com or (575) 706-2324 and we will get back with you.

What can I get out of this?

Information and education, of course, and we also think you’ll find many of the speakers to be entertaining. It’s a good chance to get everyone under one roof to talk about the energy industry while sharing an excellent meal. Who knows, you may be the biggest winner this year?

Where can I stay in Carlsbad?

Carlsbad has many excellent lodging options, and we recommend visiting the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce web page for a lengthy list.

What else is there to do in Carlsbad?

So much! Be sure to visit our world class Carlsbad Caverns National Park and nearby Guadalupe Mountains National Park, as well as the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park.  We also have a beautiful recreational area along the Pecos River. Check out our two great golf courses, our tennis courts and the Carlsbad Museum & Art Center.

I have some additional questions, who should I contact?

Please contact Kyle Marksteiner at kmarksteiner@cityofcarlsbadnm.com or (575) 706-2324. Thank you so much for your expression of interest!
