CODE ENFORCEMENT
Carlsbad Code Enforcement is a function of the Licensing and Permits Department and is charged with enforcing municipal code violations in the areas of health, safety and sanitation. The Code Enforcement Division enforces regulations relating to the following:
BUILDING INSPECTOR
- Conditions of an existing structure that constitute a clear and present danger to the public
- Signs, including signs in the public right-of-way, and failure to have required permits
- Building Code violations, including non-permitted construction
- Zoning Ordinance requirements for structures (such as use, location, configuration and size) and land use requirements

CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
- Weeds on private, developed property
- Swimming pool fences
- Graffiti
- Blight on private and public properties (old furniture, car parts, appliances, etc.), and
- Illegal dumping
Police Department
- Inoperable and abandoned vehicles on public streets and private property
