BUILDING PERMITS

A building permit is a license which grants legal permission to start construction of a building project. These permits allow the enforcement of the adopted building codes to aid in the protection of public health, safety and welfare. In almost every case in point of construction, no matter the magnitude, a valid permit is required. Instances for such permit include deconstruction/reconstruction of sheet rock, roofing, window replacement, new fence construction or repair of existing fence, demolitions, cement work and more.
The following are posted as an example basis of permit fees. Other costs and regulations may apply. For additional information and a full list please contact the Licensing and Permits Department:

Curb-cuts: $5
*For information and a request, please contact Public Works
Roofing: Charged by square footage.
Signs: $20 (for over $1000)
$10 (under $1000)
Other Projects: Charged according to cost of project.
BUILDING INSPECTOR
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Conditions of an existing structure that constitute a clear and present danger to the public
- Signs, including signs in the public right-of-way, and failure to have required permits
- Building Code violations, including non-permitted construction
- Zoning Ordinance requirements for structures (such as use, location, configuration and size) and land use requirements
