Denise Madrid Boyea has joined the City of Carlsbad as Deputy City Attorney, Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway has announced. Madrid Boyea’s first day was July 1, 2019.
“Having a highly-qualified City Attorney’s Office is critical to responsibly running a government,” Mayor Janway said. “Especially with Carlsbad growing so rapidly, we want to ensure that the City is well-prepared for the future with key staff in place. Madrid Boyea is a very experienced professional who will do an excellent job.”
Madrid Boyea has 33 years of experience as an attorney in private practice, as well as two years working for the District Attorney’s Office. She and her husband, Dennis, have fivechildren and seven grandchildren.
“I am honored to serve as Deputy City Attorney at this critical time in our community. The economic expansion occurring in Carlsbad demands additional representation,” Madrid Boyea said. “I am proud to assist Mayor Janway, the City Council, the City Managers, City Attorney Eileen Riordan and all of the other fine municipal employees deliver quality services to the public. I welcome input from all our residents.”
