City of Carlsbad All Clear in Audit

The City of Carlsbad has received an Unmodified Report on both the Financial Statement Audit and the Federal Awards Audit for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2018, Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway announced.

“We owe it to our residents to maintain the highest possible standards in terms of managing money,” Mayor Janway said. “We appreciate our Director of Finance and Investments, Wendy Austin, and our excellent staff for another job well done.”

An Unmodified Report is an opinion of the Auditor that provides a high level of assurance that the financial statements are presented, in all material respects, in accordance with applicable financial reporting standards.  In addition, there were no concerns related to weaknesses in internal controls, and no other reported deficiencies or instances of noncompliance.

The City submitted the audit timely for the 3rd year, which means that the City continues to remain off the State Auditor’s “at risk” list.  This compliancy means that the City qualifies for grants and other funding such as CDGB Grants and other federal awards.

The City contracted with Hinkle & Landers out of Albuquerque to conduct the audit.
