CARLSBAD, NM – The Riverwalk Recreation Complex, 400 Riverwalk Drive, is getting a new schedule.
Effective March 1, the “Rec” will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The new schedule reduces the night hours from the previous schedule but significantly adds to the time the facility is open during the weekend.
“This new schedule will provide additional daytime weekend hours, allowing families more time to use our recreational activities,” explained Angie Barrios-Testa, Director of Municipal Services and Capital. “This will also allow more time for organized team sports events and practices. Our goal is to encourage patrons to stay active and enjoy our facility throughout the day.”
March activities are also in full swing at the Riverwalk Recreation Center, with the facility hosting a Dr. Seuss Week from March 4th through 6th. On Monday there will be a movie and cake, as well as crafting tables for children to get creative with. In addition to crafting tables each day, on Tuesday teachers will set up tables with activities, and on Wednesday there will be story-time, gifts, and a fishbowl drawing.
